We focus on studying children-technology interaction (CIT), examining children's behavior-such as emotional expression, private speech, active engagement, attention, and achievements-within the context of their play and learning processes, as well as the influence of their peers. Our research began in UK kindergartens and later expanded to Brazil and Spain. We developed non-invasive research setting to collect data on children as young as 18 months in classroom environments, while also exploring technological innovations (e.g., artificial intelligence) to enhance this methodology. This initiative represents the first international effort to establish an ethical, effective, and child-friendly research framework of its kind. Over the next few years, we aim to strengthen global collaboration and advance both theoretical and empirical knowledge in learning analytics and computer vision. Our goal is to design and implement a rigorous, non-invasive multimodal microanalysis for early childhood learning and development research.
