Perspectives on Art, Science, Technology and Society

Date of inception 01 January 2025
Leader: Andrés Eduardo Burbano Valdés
Unit: Culture, creativity, social justice, critical thinking, humanities
The PACTS research group focuses on the intersection of media, philosophy, art, science, technology and society to address complex issues from an eminently interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary perspective. PACTS explores how knowledge from different disciplines can be interrelated, hybridized and integrated to offer disruptive responses to contemporary challenges, from the ethical impact of new technologies to cultural transformation in the digital age. Its approach incorporates critical reflection and develops conceptual and methodological tools that facilitate the analysis and understanding of complex phenomena, and encourages the development of disruptive artistic, curatorial and design research practices. PACTS seeks to be a space for reflection, experimentation, creation and exchange, where academics, artists, philosophers and technologists dialogue and collaborate to create solid and creative responses to the challenges of our time. PACTS invites us to explore the limits of our experience, recognizing the complexity and richness of reality as a meeting space and coexistence of multiple dimensions.
