Pre-doctoral grant holder based at the UOC (Barcelona), currently working on "Autonomy, well-being, and antisocial behavior in and out of school: A mixed-methods study of high school dynamics through self-determination theory (SDT)". Psychology graduate with a professional background in TEFL and law enforcement. In response to rising adolescent distress and increases in juvenile violent crime, my research examines whether teachers can mitigate these issues by offering their students more autonomy in the classroom, typically through Universal Design for Learning (UDL), which is a pedagogical approach embraced by international bodies such as the UN. I also explore whether teacher-mediated autonomy genuinely empowers students or subtly reinforces compliance.
