Arenas Gomez

Professor of Labour and Social Security Law at the Faculty of Law and Political Science of the Universitat Oberta de Catalunya (UOC) since September 2025. My career combines academic research with extensive experience in legal practice, having been a member of the Barcelona Bar Association (ICAB) since 1997. For over twenty years, I have specialized in Labour Law, Social Security Law, and Occupational Health and Safety. Between 2004 and 2024, I practiced law at Col·lectiu Ronda, where I was a partner of the cooperative until starting a leave of absence in 2025. Previously (1999-2003), I held technical and legal advisory positions at the mutual insurance company FREMAP. My social commitment is reflected in my active involvement in Penitentiary Law, serving as a specialized legal aid lawyer and volunteering across several correctional facilities in Barcelona. Additionally, I hold accredited specialization in Juvenile Justice. In the academic field, I have taught at several prestigious institutions: UOC: Adjunct professor in the Labour Relations degree prior to my current appointment. UPF / BSM-UPF: Associate professor in the Labour Relations degree and lecturer in the Master’s program in Labour and Social Security Law. UAB: Lecturer in the Department of Labour and Social Security Law.
