Doctor by the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC) with the thesis Study of wcdma cellular systems with non-homogeneous traffic distributions 2007. Supervised by Dr. Oriol Sallent Roig, Dr. Jordi Pérez Romero.

The R&D activities of researcher Ferran Adelantado Freixer focus on the development of distributed systems decentralised on different scales (small groups, clusters or the Internet), optimisation algorithms and parallel computing systems, and on the development of collaborative learning systems. In particular, special emphasis is given, on the one hand, to peer-to-peer paradigms, message passing, shared memory, grid and cloud computing models and optimisation-simulation algorithms. On the other, he works on the analysis and evaluation of collaborative interactions in virtual learning environments.
