Doctor by the Universitat Oberta de Catalunya with the thesis Flujo y comportamiento del consumidor en línea un anàlisis empírico de las experiencias de consumo de productos formativos 2011. Supervised by Dr. Inmaculada Rodríguez Ardura, Dr. Antoni Meseguer Artola.

A member of the teaching staff at the Universitat Oberta de Catalunya's (UOC) Faculty of Economics and Business since 2006, where she teaches courses in marketing-related subjects; she is currently director of the Master's Degree in Digital Marketing. Concurrently with her work at the UOC, she has held teaching positions in other higher education centres, such as the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC) (UPC) and EAE Business School. Holder of a degree and a master's degree in Business Administration and Management from ESADE Business School, Ramon Llull University (2000), and a doctoral degree in the Information and Knowledge Society from the UOC (2011). Researcher Irene Esteban Millat's R&I work focuses primarily on the knowledge areas of digital consumer behaviour and retail. She also collaborates on research into e-learning. Her main research interests lie in the study of the consumer experience in different digital environments, the nature of the state of flow to understand user behaviour as a digital consumer, the use of new digital technologies by consumers and consumer behaviour on social media.
