Carmen Pagés is a professor and researcher at the Economics and Enterprise Department in the  Universitat Oberta de Catalunya in Spain. She is also the head of the Labor Prospective and Analytics Unit in that university. She conducts research and develops tools to link education with the labor market. Prior to that, she was the Chief of the Labor Markets Division at the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) where she directed the technical and operational work related to this topic. She also worked as a Principal Economist at the IDB Research Department and as a Senior Economist at the World Bank. Her latest work focuses on how technology transforms the labor market and the demand for skills. Carmen is the author of eight books and has published in top academic journals. She has a master degree in economics from the Autonomous University of Barcelona and a Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Boston.
