Doctor by the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona with the thesis Constraint satisfaction problems generation from petri net models 2006. Supervised by Dr. Miquel Àngel Piera Eroles, Dr. Antonio Guasch Petit.

The R&D activities of researcher Daniel Riera i Terrén focus on the study of combinatorial problems and the application of constraint programming, simulation and artificial intelligence techniques for their solution. Combining these tools permits the creation of hybrid methodologies and algorithms that can deal with real-life routing, scheduling, formal verification, problems, etc. He is also interested in the use of games and gamification to work on motivation in learning. He is a member of the UOC's Internet Computing & Systems Optimization (ICSO) R&D group.
