Is an Assistant Professor in Applied Economics at the Faculty of Economics and Business at the Universitat Oberta de Catalunya (UOC) and the Director of the Master's Program in Economic Analysis. He specializes in economic geography, focusing on the spatial distribution and clustering dynamics of high-tech, creative, and knowledge-intensive service industries. His research examines the evolution and localization of coworking spaces, assessing their impact on regional economic development and innovation ecosystems. Dr. Méndez-Ortega has completed research stays at prestigious institutions such as the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign (USA), the Institute of Geography and Spatial Management at Jagiellonian University (Poland), and the University of Economics in Bratislava (Slovakia), enriching his global perspective on spatial economics. He has published extensively in high-impact, peer-reviewed journals, contributing to the fields of economic geography, urban and regional economics, and industrial organization. His work has explored topics such as firm location patterns, agglomeration processes, and the role of coworking spaces within urban environments. Beyond academic publishing, Dr. Méndez-Ortega has been actively involved in national and European research projects, collaborating on studies related to the spatial economics of emerging industries and the dynamics of new workspaces. His expertise provides valuable insights into regional development, firm growth, and economic innovation.
