Doctor by the Universitat de Barcelona with the thesis La libertad ideológica en el derecho penal 1988.

His research activity is focused mainly on victimology. The research projects he is currently working on and has worked on in the past are concerned with victimization, the protection of vulnerable victims, reparation, sexual abuse of minors, restorative justice and transitional justice.
