Montserrat García Alsina's R&I work focuses on studying how information, documents and knowledge are managed in organizations. Her research centres on strategic and organizational aspects of the management of information and knowledge, based on developing theoretical frameworks, using computer simulation models and the in-depth study of real-life cases using both quantitative and qualitative methodologies. She is currently conducting in-depth research into: ● The strategic role of knowledge for organizations. ● The creation, transfer and use of knowledge in major scientific experiments and in organizations. ● Information and knowledge flows in social networks. ● The role of competitive intelligence and the use of resources derived from companies' social capital to create a competitive advantage. ● Information systems and management in the context of transparency, open data and open government to generate competitive advantages for regions and in public authorities. ● The governance of information. Montserrat García Alsina is a member of the UOC's Knowledge and Information Management in Organizations (KIMO) research group.
