Maialen Marin-Lacarta is a translator and senior researcher at the Universitat Oberta de Catalunya (UOC), where she leads an international team of eight researchers as part of a project funded by the Spanish Ministry of Science and Innovation on digital translations and the production of knowledge about China. Before joining the UOC, she worked as an adjunct professor in the Department of Translation, Interpreting and Intercultural Studies at Hong Kong Baptist University (HKBU). She has a PhD in Chinese and Intercultural Studies and Translation from the Institut National de Langues et Civilisations Orientales (INALCO) in Paris and the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB). She has translated the works of authors including Shen Congwen and Mo Yan into Spanish and Basque, respectively. Her research interests include research methodologies, ethnography in translation and interpreting studies, digital publishing, literary translation, modern and contemporary Chinese and Sinophone literature, literary reception, history of translation and indirect translation.
