Elisabet Carbó Catalan's educational background is in literature and translation, progressively specializing in sociological approaches to these two fields (Bourdieu, Sapiro, etc.). Her research interests include policies affecting the cultural sphere and global flows in translation. She is currently researching the role of institutions (governmental and others) in promoting translation, translation in the framework of cultural diplomacy and the challenges for cultures regarded as peripheral (small, minority, dominated, etc.) in the global literary system. Elisabet Carbó Catalan combines quantitative and qualitative methodologies (also known as macro and microanalysis) and, in this context, is interested in online humanities, the analysis of networks and data visualization tools.
