Jorge Mario
Uribe Gil

Jorge M. Uribe is an associate professor at the Universitat Oberta de Catalunya and the director of the Finance, Macroeconomics and Management (FM2) research group at the same institution. He is also an affiliated researcher at the University of Barcelona’s Research Institute of Applied Economics. Before this, he served as a lecturer at Universidad del Valle in Colombia. He has worked for the Financial Stability Division of the Central Bank of Colombia and for Colombia’s National Planning Agency. He specializes in financial economics, energy markets and quantitative methods. His research has been published in leading academic journals such as the Journal of International Money and Finance, Journal of International Financial Markets, Institutions and Money, Journal of Commodity Markets, International Review of Financial Analysis, International Review of Economics and Finance, Energy Economics, Energy Policy, The Energy Journal and Applied Energy. He holds a PhD in Economics from the University of Barcelona (UB), his dissertation winning the UCEIF Award for Best Doctoral Thesis in Finance in Spain. He also holds a master’s degree in Artificial Intelligence from the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC) and a master’s degree in Economics from the European University Institute (EUI) in Italy.
