Doctor by the Universitat Ramon Llull with the thesis The strategic management of knowledge flows in the spatial economy an agent-based modeling approach 2005. Supervised by Dr. Max Boisot, Dr. Marcel Planellas Aran.

Researcher Agustí Canals' R&I work focuses on the study of information and knowledge management's strategic and organizational aspects in organizations. His current main research interests are strategic knowledge management, social media and knowledge networks, RDI processes, innovation ecosystems, competitive intelligence and complex systems. He also specializes in corporate strategy, geographical business clusters and simulation models. He is principal investigator in the KIMO (Knowledge and Information Management in Organizations) research group. He is also a Senior Research Fellow at the I-Space Institute (Philadelphia, USA) and a member of the Advisory Board of the newPIC Chair in new practices for innovation and creativity at the Paris School of Business. He has been visiting researcher at the Wharton School (University of Pennsylvania) and at the Saïd Business School (University of Oxford).
