Doctor by the Universitat Pompeu Fabra with the thesis Textos especialitzats i variació vertical la diversitat terminològica com a factor discriminant del nivell d'especialització d'un text 2006. Supervised by Dr. María Teresa Cabré.

The research of Ona Domènech Bagaria concentrates on neologisms, terminology and specialised texts, and is linked to the IULATERM consolidated research group (of the Universitat Pompeu Fabra's Instituto Universitario de Lingüística Aplicada, University Applied Linguistics Institute). She has worked in the field of the so-called "specialised languages", closely related to legal terminology and legal-financial translations, to which she has also dedicated a large amount of her teaching activities. Currently, her research's priorities are centred on the study of neologisms and lexical creation, mainly in Catalan, but also in Spanish.
