Eduard Aibar is a professor of Science and Technology Studies in the Arts and Humanities Department at the Universitat Oberta de Catalunya (UOC) and a member of the MUSSOL research group. He is the current president of the Catalan Association for the Study of Science and Technology (STS-CAT). He holds a PhD in Philosophy from the University of Barcelona (UB). He teaches in the Bachelor's Degree in Humanities, the Bachelor's Degree in Anthropology and Human Evolution, the Master's Degree in Philosophy for Contemporary Challenges, and the Master's Degree in History of the Contemporary World at the UOC. He has been a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Maastricht (Netherlands), the University of Salamanca, and the UB. He was Vice-Rector for Research at the UOC from 2005 to 2009 and Director of the Internet Interdisciplinary Institute (IN3) and the Information and Knowledge Society PhD program during other periods. He has conducted research primarily on social aspects of science and technology, within the field of science and technology studies (STS). He has recently focused on the study of open science and technology and the analysis of innovation ideology, and has directed two research projects on the role of Wikipedia in the public communication of science and in university teaching. He is currently conducting research on scientific fraud in Spain.
