Francesc Saigí Rubió

Francesc Saigí is a Full Professor at the Faculty of Health Sciences at the Universitat Oberta de Catalunya (UOC) in Barcelona, Spain. He is currently Head of the World Health Organization (WHO) Collaborating Centre for eHealth at the same faculty. His main research interests include defining, implementing, and evaluating new digital health services, particularly telemedicine and eHealth. He also focuses on using eHealth and ICT to promote changes in health-related behaviors, improve population health, and prevent chronic diseases. Finally, the eHealth competencies of health professionals, innovation in digital health training, and the use of social networks for the exchange of knowledge in the health sector. Among his notable publications and technical reports for supranational organizations such as WHO/PAHO and the Inter-American Development Bank (BID), he has authored 8 books or book chapters. As the Principal Investigator, he has led 5 R&D projects (Horizon 2020, CYTED, AECID, National Program of the Ministry of Science and Technology, and @lfa Europeo) and participated in 16 other R&D projects, securing over €336,000.00 as the IP. Additionally, he has been involved in 10 research and technology transfer contracts with government agencies, where he served as the IP in 8 of them, obtaining more than €115,000.00.
