The R&I activity of researcher Helena Rifà Pous focuses on the security and privacy of information and communication, with particular emphasis on distributed, wireless networks and smart city and smart home environments. In particular, her work is devoted to designing cryptographic applications and protocols for citizen engagement services and Industry 4.0 services, social media privacy, fault detection in IoT networks, and information tagging techniques that can be used to offer certain security and privacy functions. Dr Rifà Pous's research forms part of the work of the UOC's K-riptography and Information Security for Open Networks (KISON) research group. She is a member of the European Commission's group of experts responsible for reviewing European projects (FP7, H2020, Horizon Europe). She is a member of the Center for Cybersecurity Research of Catalonia (CYBERCAT) and of the Spanish National Network for Excellence in Cybersecurity Research (RENIC), forming part of its governing body as its treasurer. She participates in the Digital Catalonia Alliance for Cybersecurity (DCA-Ciberseguretat) and the Spanish National Cybersecurity Forum (FNC).
