Mirela Fiori is an architect and urbanist. She has a PhD in Urban and Architectural Management and Valuation (cum laude) from the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya, a master's degree in the Architecture of New Environments from the same university and master's degree in City Management from the University of Barcelona. She has been working at the Universitat Oberta de Catalunya (UOC) since 2006. Since 2012, she has been director of its University Master's Degree in Cities and Urbanism. She is a member of the editorial team of URBS. Journal of Urban Studies and Social Sciences and of the management committee of the UOC's International Conference on Internet, Law & Politics. Her research interests are multidisciplinary in nature, focusing mainly on the social and economic impact of urban transformation processes, particularly gentrification and urban segregation, as well as the policies, instruments, strategies and citizens' initiatives designed to counter these. She is also interested in teaching innovation and the social impact of higher education.
