Doctor by the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya (UPC) with the thesis Pruning and refactoring ontologies in the development of conceptual schemas of information systems 2008. Supervised by Dr. Antoni Olivé Ramon.

The R&D activities of researcher Jordi Conesa i Caralt focus on the use and definition of conceptual frameworks. His main research interests are conceptual modelling, ontologies, the semantic web, knowledge-based systems and eLearning. His long-term goal is to develop methodologies and tools to use ontologies effectively in different areas of application, such as conceptual modelling, program engineering, geographical information systems and eLearning. He is a member of the UOC's GRES-UOC (Software Engineering Research Group) R&D group.
