The European Teacher Academy for Online Teaching and Learning; Fostering Online teaching Readiness and competences in Education
Funder: European Commission
Call: Partnership for Excellence - Erasmus+ Teacher Academies: ERASMUS-EDU-2024-PEX-TEACH-ACA European Commission (European Commission)
Of European scope.
Although technology provides increasing opportunities for qualitative online education, significant gaps in readiness persist across Europe. Many teachers in ECEC, primary, and secondary education feel insecure about teaching both asynchronously and synchronously online, as these require specific competences. Schools often fail to harness the potential of online teaching methods. The same goes for initial teacher education and continuous professional development (CPD) programmes; they rarely emphasize online teaching. This is not surprising, as there are as yet few national or international standards for online teaching competences. To address these needs, we aim to establish E-FORCE. E-FORCE stands for the European Teacher Academy for Online Teaching and Learning – Fostering Online teaching Readiness and Competences in Education. The E-FORCE project aims to address these gaps at a micro, meso and macro level, by bringing together teachers, educational experts, teacher trainers, and CPD providers across Europe to sustainably collaborate and establish an innovative European teacher academy for online teaching and learning. This E-FORCE academy aims to: 1- build capacity and critical understanding on how to make full use of the opportunities offered by online education; 2- increase the number of teachers who are confident and competent in online teaching through teach-the-teacher programmes; 3- develop sustainable partnerships that positively impact the quality of teacher education and CPD; 4- create a network and active community of practice to facilitate exchange of knowledge, promote innovation and impact policies and educational quality; 5- develop an online, hybrid and blended model of mobility for teachers; 6- train teachers to incorporate EU Values and gender-sensitive approaches into their online teaching methods; 7- foster inclusive and accessible online education.
