Urban Mobilities: The Anglo-Catalan Production of the Barcelona Model
Of Regional scope.
There is a already a sizable body of research that defines the contours of the so-called ¿Barcelona Model¿ of urban regeneration, but there is little, if any, empirical research on how this model has been ¿exported¿; or indeed to what extent and in what ways key agencies and networks in Barcelona have themselves learned from the process of promoting best practice in different contexts. That there is a paucity of Anglophone literature on this is surprising given the extent to which the ¿Barcelona Model¿ has been endorsed as a model for regeneration in the United Kingdom. By looking at how the Barcelona Model has been operationalised in England and how the ¿feedback¿ between Britain and Barcelona has shaped urban regeneration in Catalonia, this project intends to make a methodological and empirical contribution to the emerging field of ¿urban policy mobilities¿ (MacCann, 2008).
