Of National scope.

This project arises from the lack of information at an international level regarding the interactions between China and Spain in the first half of the 20th century. This projects aims at overcoming such limitations. It wants to prove that: (a) the empirical evidences that have traditionally been used by international scholars in the analysis of the relations between China and the West are limited (as excessively Anglo- and Francocentric) and, therefore, the resulting theoretical framework is biased, as it assumes a bilateral form that does not take into account the plurality that lies within the very same concept of the West; and (b) the interactions between Spain and China during the first half of the 20th century are significant and complex and can supplement in a richer and more critical way both the empirical evidences as well as the theoretical framework mentioned above.
