Projecte 610349 D-CENT
Decentralised Citizens ENgagement Technologies
Finançador : European Commission
Convocatòria: Information & Communication Technologies Programme (ICT 2013-Call 10) (European Commission)
D'àmbit Europeu.
D-CENT will design and pilot a platform for local and Europe-wide direct democratic decisions, including decisions over managing common goods with complementary currencies based on Bitcoin, whose uptake can then be used to measure the sustainability and impact of the project. We propose a mix of rigorous research and technology prototypes, with testing in 2 integrated pilot themes: Direct Democracy/Political Empowerment – enabling more direct engagement in democratic decision making and the formulation of options; and Shared economy/Economic Empowerment enabling communities to manage common goods, and exchange using alternative digital social currencies. These pilots will involve real-use communities of citizens in Spain, Iceland, and Finland to ensure that new technological tools are field-tested with a large community of users.
