Te overall objective of the research envisioned in this proposal consists of addressing some aspects of a problem – that of the lack of an adequate legal and policy framework regarding the use if AI technologies – that falls under the Sixth Challenge identified by the Plan Estatal de investigación científica y técnica y de innovación 2017-2020. The Sixth Challenge covers the analysis of the impact of social changes, including the changes in patterns of communication, social relationships, collective and individual behaviour, etc, associated to the digitalization of economy, society and culture. A particularly relevant example of such changes is clearly the emergence of widely used AI systems, whose impact and implications for individuals and for society at large are difficult to ignore.
