Of Regional scope.

During the assembly process of a vehicle subsequent sealing tests are performed in order to determine if there are holes, not properly assembled parts, or scratches that may cause wàter leakages (Fig.1). This process is performed manually by line operators using handheld moisture sensors taking 2-3 minutes to be conducted, thus, being a major bottleneck in the automatized production chain. WiLD aims to develop novel passive sensors to automatically detect water leakages inside the vehicle. This detection is performed by low cost (~0.10€) battery-less sensors, based on commercial UHF RFID tags, pre-deployed inside the vehicle by providers or during the manufacturing process. After a rain test, the sensors are polled by RFID readers in order to determine if any water leakage occurred. The system detects in about 1 second levels of moisture corresponding to a leakage and automatically locates their position without human intervention. The operator is warned by the system without the need to enter inside the vehicle.
